They can harbor STREPTOCOCCAL INFECTION AND CANDIDIA, a germ linked to problems in the intestines and bowel, catching the HERPES VIRUS is also a risk if the sweat of an infected person gets on the equipment surface. The moisture from sweat causes problems by helping germs to grow.

“I performed a Quantitative Analysis on the effectiveness of the Bike Seat Cover as a protective barrier against the bacteria found on exercise bike seats. The bike seat alone had an average of 41CFUs (bacteria colony units) and the seat cover after it was worked out on had 22cfus. After 1 hour of use the amount of bacteria on the seat cover which is from the user was on average 2 times less than bacteria found on the bike seat alone. Bacteria was transferred on the underside of the Seat Cover from the gym bike. Based on these results I would say the Sani-Fanny Seat Cover, if used as a ONE TIME USE PRODUCT, is an effective layer of protection against bacteria.
